Creating Adwords Ads With Added FOMO
September 3rd 2015 Sally Ormond adwords, fear of missing out, FOMO, Google Adwords
What the hell is FOMO?
It’s the holy grail marketers love.
It preys on the insecurities of the buyer.
It’s the Fear Of Missing Out.
It can be generated through time limited offers, limited stock etc.. - you know, the type of thing that people won’t want to miss out on.
That’s why FOMO is worth its weight in gold when it comes to your Google Adwords adverts.
Mind you there is a problem.
How do you fit that in when you’re so limited on characters?
Yes, that is a challenge.
You see when creating Adwords ads you’re limited to:
- 25 characters for your headline
- 35 characters for your display URL
- 35 characters for your first line
- 35 characters for your second line
Do you know what’s worse?
Spaces also count as characters, so you have very little room to play with.
So how can you possibly add a touch of FOMO?
Well, Google has a handy little tool you can use - a count down, that will add a spot of urgency to your ad.
You can find instructions on how to use it here.
Now all you have to do is come up with the wording too, but that’s probably a whole blog post on its own.
