What You Need to Know About the CAN-SPAM Act
June 16th 2016 Sally Ormond can-spam act, Email marketing, getting email marketing right, spammer
Email marketing seems like the easiest thing in the world to do.
You write your email and then send it out to thousands of people at the push of a button.
Hold on there a moment - aren’t you forgetting something?
If you’re using email marketing it’s essential you’re up to date with anti-spam laws, because if you breach them you could be in line for a hefty £5000 fine.
The law restricts you from sending unsolicited marketing emails (i.e. those they haven’t expressly asked to receive) to individual subscribers (you can send them to corporates if they are relevant to their work).
So how to you make sure your emails aren’t breaking the rules?
Rather than me waffle on about what you can and can’t do, here’s an info graphic created by EveryCloud that basically sums up what your email should look like.
