Get More Engagement From Instagram

As a copywriter, Instagram isn’t a social media channel that I’ve used for business. Yes, pictures of my dogs appear on it now and then, but that’s as far as it goes.
But as one of the fastest growing social media platforms with over 200 million users, which gets 15 times more user engagement than Facebook and 40 times more than Twitter, it’s definitely a viable proposition for business.
The trick is to work out what people like, what makes them follow people and how to get people to find you.
One of the best ways is to link your Instagram account with Facebook. You’ll probably find a lot of your Facebook followers will automatically follow you on Instagram too. Next is to work on your hashtag usage to help people find you.
Then you have to think about what you’re posting. As with a lot of stuff in the business world, the more personal or from the heart it is, the more chance you have of generating engagement. Just posting photos of your products is a bit lame, but showing your customers use them or creating amusing images of alternative uses for them will fire peoples’ imagination and generate more interest.
I could go on and on, but as a non-business user what do I know?
But these guys do know a thing or two. This infographic from idiotic.net is a compilation of ideas from some Instagram experts with a few tips that will help you get more engagement.
