One of the most important parts of your search engine optimisation strategy is link building. They are essential if you are to achieve and maintain good rankings.

But how can you be sure you’re using the most effective anchor text linking structure?

For many people, that just involves using their keywords as their anchor text. But with Google’s growing sophistication you should be looking to mix up your linking by also using contextual anchor text. What that means, is to use something generic, like ‘click here’ but in close proximity to your keywords.

To explain all this further, I found an interesting article on Seomoz.org. They conducted an experiment using both methods – keywords and contextual anchor text – with some very interesting outcomes.

Go and grab a coffee and use the link below to take a look at what they discovered and start making the most of your linking strategy.
